Our History (about p!e)

Created in 2009 by [Mary Welsh Schlueter], The Partnership for Innovation in Education (PIE) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Using experiential, digital, project-based and blended learning methods, students are encouraged to better develop STEM (science, technology, engineering and math)-based skills. Mastering critical thinking skills and practicing hands-on applications of these concepts has become essential in competing in the global economy. Learn more about us…

  • PIE programs drive attendance 14 percent higher in participating schools.
  • 100 percent of PIE programs meet or exceed STEM curriculum standards
  • 25 percent of PIE programs introduce art and creativity into STEM curriculum
  • PIE programs attract higher rates of participation among girls and minorities in STEM classes
  • PIE programs increase STEM career and college readiness by 52 percent
  • Hands-on PIE programs increase STEM academic achievement by 35 percent
